Aussies cricketers fuming

Symonds abused by Indian fans - http://www.rediff.com/cricket/2007/oct/11sym.htm

Nice to see Aussies fuming at "bad behaviour by Indians", and complaining to the match referee.
I recall watching the highlights of a India vs England cricket Test match at some venue in England, a few days ago. The game seemed to be from the eighties, seeing Ravi Shastri, Kapil Dev, Ian Botham and other players of the era on the field. While the players were not friendly to each other or something, but still they smiled at each other, and laughed together at funny moments of the game. The players were competitive though, all right, but it was a time before the

AFAIK, after the rise of Australia in the ninties (after Allan Border retired), there has been a definite rise in sledging and ugly incidents on the field. Even though Aussies are the world champions, nobody really likes them. Most people, across the cricket playing countries, do not like Aussies and resent them. Most people are likely to be fans (or have favourable views) of West Indies, England and even Paki cricketers, but Aussies are not really admired.

Even one of the greatest bowlers of all times, Glenn McGrath, does not have many fans. Aussie team wins, and winning is all that matters blah blah, etc, but whats the point when the team is not respected even though they win. I dont know about other countries, but in India, the only Aussie players who have some fan following here seem to be Brett Lee and Shane Warne.

How ironic, to see the team that has made sledging a fine art form, accuse other teams of the same when paid back ?
